Roger Allen
PublishedSummary
A 60-year-old Sheffield man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison after pleading guilty to a series of horrific child sex offenses.
Roger Allen, formerly of Abbey Brook Gardens, admitted to 16 counts at Sheffield Crown Court, including numerous counts of rape, child pornography, and possessing an extreme pornographic image.
The court heard that Allen’s victim came forward after enduring years of severe sexual abuse. Following the report, South Yorkshire Police searched Allen’s property, uncovering indecent images and videos of children that he had produced himself.
Investigating officer Detective Constable Jason Earl praised the victim's bravery, noting that the long-term abuse would have likely continued had they not come forward.
"It cannot be underestimated the significant toll that child sexual abuse has on victims—it irreparably changes a child's life," DC Earl said. "Allen took full advantage for his own disgraceful sexual criminality."
DC Earl added that Allen had shown "little to no remorse or acknowledgment for the pain and suffering he has caused."
In addition to his 20-year custodial sentence, Allen has been placed permanently on the Sex Offenders Register.
