Kennedy Jimmy
PublishedSummary
In February 2026, Kennedy Jimmy was sentenced to six years in prison at Luton Crown Court for a rape committed in 2006. On 7 October 2006, when Jimmy was 25 years old, he approached a teenage victim and her friend in a supermarket car park in Shefford, Bedfordshire. After waiting for the friend to enter a shop, Jimmy forced the victim into the back of a car and raped her. Although an investigation was launched at the time, the suspect remained unidentified as he was only known to the victim by the name 'Kenny'.
The case remained unsolved for nearly two decades until it was reviewed under Operation Painter, a specialist initiative by the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit targeting historic sexual offences. Advanced forensic science provided a DNA match that led to Jimmy's arrest in November 2022. Following a five-day trial, Jimmy, aged 44 at the time of conviction, was found guilty of rape in October 2025. In addition to his six-year prison sentence, he was issued a life-long restraining order to protect the victim.
