Summary

Andrew Evans, 40, from Crowborough, appeared at Lewes Crown Court where he was sentenced to five years in prison after pleading guilty to two child sex offences. The offences were committed in March 2022 against a girl under the age of 13 who was under his care while he was acting as a childminder.

At the time of these offences, Evans was on police bail for separate child sexual assault matters. Following his arrest for breaching bail conditions, authorities discovered indecent images of the child on his mobile phone. The victim subsequently disclosed the abuse to investigators.

Evans is currently serving a separate sentence of over 14 years for sexually assaulting children during his previous employment at a nursery. The five-year sentence was imposed for these additional offences, which took place while he was restricted by bail conditions prohibiting him from being alone with children. The court heard victim impact statements detailing the distress caused by his actions.
