Harrison Douglas Long
PublishedSummary
Harrison Douglas Long, 35, of no fixed address, was sentenced to 14 months imprisonment at York Crown Court following his guilty pleas to dangerous driving, driving while disqualified, and driving without insurance. Additionally, he received a two-year driving ban.
The offences occurred on 28 July 2025 in Scarborough, when North Yorkshire Police officers spotted Long driving a white van. When an officer in an unmarked vehicle followed Long into a courtyard and instructed him to stop, Long drove toward the officer, narrowly missing him. During the incident, he collided with a civilian vehicle and the police car, causing significant damage before fleeing the scene. The civilian vehicle was subsequently written off due to the extent of the damage.
Long was later tracked down while travelling as a passenger in another vehicle near Malton and was arrested. He had previously pleaded guilty to all three offences at York Magistrates' Court prior to his sentencing at the Crown Court.
