Summary

David Fisher, 82, of Thatcham, was sentenced to 19 years in prison following a trial at Reading Crown Court. A jury found him guilty of six counts of rape, four counts of indecency with a child, one count of attempted rape, and one count of indecent assault.

The offences occurred during the 1960s and 1970s, involving three female victims who were aged 10 and 11 at the time. Fisher, who was employed by the former Berkshire County Council during the period of the offending, targeted the victims by persuading them to enter his vehicle before abusing them in woodland areas across West Berkshire. The investigation was initiated decades later after one of the victims identified Fisher while travelling on a bus.

Following the jury's verdict in July, Fisher was sentenced to a total of 19 years' imprisonment.
